This set of three postage stamps was issued by Vatican City to commemorate the 6th centenary of the institution of the Feast of the Visitation, which is celebrated on May 31st. The feast day honors the the visit of Mary, who was pregnant with Jesus, to Elizabeth, who was pregnant with John the Baptist, as recorded in the Gospel of Luke, Luke 1:39–56. Depictions on the stamps include the Annunciation, Mary and Saint Elizabeth, and Mary, Elizabeth, John Baptist and Jesus.
